Since becoming a nutrition consultant I have learned a lot about the power of food and the impact it has on our bodies. When eating the right amount and proper forms, food has the power to make us strong. When eating too little or food that doesn't contain essential nutrients it has the power to make us week. When we are tired it can bring us energy and when we are sick it has the power to heal. In essence what we eat everyday has a direct impact on the person we want to be and the greatest thing about this is that we have the power to make that choice.
With that being said it is important to feed our bodies foods that are going to help us be that strong, energetic, glowing and healthy person we want. Founders of the Whole 30 program Melissa Hartwig and Dallas Hartwig have a theory about food.
"The food you eat either makes you more healthy or less healthy. Those are your options."
I couldn't agree more that is why it is important that we have an understanding of what foods are going to provide us with health and those that are not. In school we referred to these two group as Nutrition Heroes and Nutrition Bandits. Nutrition Heroes provide essential nutrients the body needs to survive and prosper. Where as, Nutrition Bandits rob the body of these vital nutrients and promote a decline in health.
Your probably wondering what are these Nutrition Heroes and Nutrition Bandits. Below you will find a chart that describes each group. In order to foster optimal health we want to increase our consumption of Nutrition Heroes and decrease our consumption of Nutrition Bandits.
In modern america most of us are lucky enough to be presented with a myriad of food choices. Now it is our choice to chose foods that are going to promote optimum health. If choosing healthy foods or finding ways to increase nutrition heroes and decrease nutrition bandits has been hard in the past, contact me to set up your free 20 min consultation.
